Monte di Mezzocorona

Walking and relaxation

A vast network of footpaths converging on a completely traffic-free oasis of peace - this is Monte di Mezzocorona, the perfect destination if you’re looking for somewhere away from the hubbub of city life. This picturesque spot is surrounded by unspoiled, verdant countryside, yet it’s not far from town.

It lies above the town of Mezzocorona, which is less than ten minutes by car from the Mezzocorona - San Michele all'Adige exit from the A22 motorway and offers easy access to the Monte – the seven-person Monte di Mezzocorona cable car takes three minutes, while the more energetic can walk up on well-signposted paths or scramble up the Burrone Giovanelli via ferrata. See below for all CAR FREE access routes to Monte!

Once there, marvel at the splendid views of the Piana Rotaliana Königsberg, the Adige Valley and the surrounding mountains, or take a walk along one of the area’s many footpaths through the woods and the countryside. On hot summer days, the Ora del Garda wind sends a breeze to the little plateau (891 m) bringing a touch of coolness to help you relax or to add to your enjoyment of a good meal. Don’t miss the tortel di patate (local potato cake) at the Albergo Ai Spiazzi, with its splendid horse chestnut trees and nearby picturesque little church.

Monte di Mezzocorona is also perfect for a delightful day outdoors with the whole family, which the children will remember with wonder! Just take the path that leads to the Malga Kraun refuge (1,222 m.asl, seasonal opening) and follow the signs for La Magia del Bosco (Magic of the Woods), to discover a remarkable open-air gallery of sculptures carved out of tree trunks. The path will also take you to the ancient, monumental silver fir, known as the “Candelabra”, and ends at the Malga Kraun, where, in the summer months, you can tuck into a delicious hearty meal and meet their animal friends. Alternatively, return to the Albergo Ai Spiazzi or enjoy a picnic lunch in the open.

Don’t miss the "Sentiero delle Confidenze” discovery path, where you can learn about the forest ecosystem (flora and fauna) and local traditions. It begins from the Strada delle Longhe forestry track, which runs from Mezzocorona to the Malga Kraun refuge.
