The Pilati family have for generations been dedicated vine growers on the hills of Pressano, an area caressed by sun and breezes, surrounded by splendid expanses of vineyards and renowned for the cultivation of Gewürztraminer.

In 1921, great-grandfather Luigi Pilati bought Maso Clinga, a farmhouse built in 1500 by the German Klinger family just above the village and close to the silver mines that for centuries filled the air with the ringing of pickaxes (the German “klingen” means to clink or ring out, from which, perhaps, the name).

Today the family owns a small portion of vineyards in this area, renowned for its geological composition, good exposure and ventilation, and altitude, and in the neighbouring farms, at an altitude ranging from 350 to 500 metres above sea level.

Since 2018, father Felice and his children Enzo, Lorena and Umberto, have carried on the winemaking tradition as the Klinger Winery. They have about 4 hectares of Nosiola, their major grape variety, with vines from 40 to 100+ years old, accounting for roughly 10% of all Nosiola grown, as well as 1 hectare of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Gewürztraminer.
